Hi All
I’ve noticed that many people nowadays work with pads. As a result of this boom in use there are now very short courses that provide pad work qualifications. I personally don’t agree with their methodology of awarding an instructor grade within 4hrs of training. This view is transferable to martial arts as some instructors appear to think that it is just enough to ask someone to hold a pad. This can (and does) lead to elbow and shoulder injuries. A more detailed explanation of my view on pad training is available below.

Kind regards, Les.
Hey, great article.
I'd be interested in your suggestions in using different kinds of pads for different purposes.
Thanks, and take care
Marc
Brilliant article! There is a real art to holding the pads safely and effectively. As I’ve often said, I know many good strikers … I know a handful of good pad holders.
I’ll share that article via my lists over the next few days.
All the best,
Iain
Hi Marc I will answer your question tomorrow (I hope) as we recorded clip on use of three types of pads for different development. Iain thank you, much appreciated! Kind regards, Les
Cool, looking forward to that.
