For instance there is an introductory compilation of Karate written by Shindo Jinen-Ryu founder Yasuhiro Konishi, which contains an comprehensive overview of the art of karate. My personal nugget in that book: An illustration of an indoor mobile makiwara, which can be rolled (it has rolls attached to it, similar to an office chair).
