I find Randy Brown of Randy Brown Mantis Boxing & BJJ very interesting because he echoes a lot of what the most cited pragmatic, bunkai enthusiasts say, but he felt forms were for teachers and felt students should not practice them.
In this video, he goes back on it because of the current social distancing situation and it’s neat to watch as it’s like watching the history of the forms process.
It’s also interesting to hear why Chinese martial arts did certain things in forms (he notes turning 180 degrees to denote different sections.)
