Advanced Naihanchi / Tekki-Shodan Arm-Control Flow Drill (video)

This video - that was filmed yesterday - shows a flow drill using a sequence of motions from Naihanchi (Tekki Shodan) to move and manipulate your partner’s arm. The aim of the drill is to move the arm through various positions while maintaining flow and contact. These various positions create openings for a wide range of techniques.

It is important that this drill is not mistaken for a technique or a combination. It is a drill to explore moving and manipulating the arm. In application you would not use the drill; you would simply move the arm as required and then exploit the opening created.

Once the drill is learnt to a sufficient level, the next stage is to “break the drill” by entering and leaving it at any given point and using it to facilitate other methods. I hope the video is of interest.

All the best,

Iain
