Application of Nepai kata

Hi all. Here is a recording hastily made at the end of training. The application teaches many key concepts for close quarter scenarios, so is greater than the sum of its parts. By this I mean the lessons of distraction, destruction, dispacement, redirection, trapping etc can easily be applied in countless ways and are not simply elements attached to this template. Regards.

Thanks for sharing Mark! I edited together some Nipaipo stuff last week, but I was not planning on releasing it until later in the week. However, I’ll embed it here now to see if we can get a thread going. It’s a different sequence, and a different version of the kata, but the rising punch part is common.

All the best,

Iain

Hi Iain. Nice stuff, very different from the version I practice, although there will obviously be similarities with the differing interpretations of 28 (steps) As I wrote I hastily recorded my template last night as I remembered when the session had finished that I had promised to do some recording. I was very grateful to the guys for stopping back a few minutes to give me chance to record this template. I'll get some more recorded soon, and try and give myself more time for the recording :-) Regards

Indeed! And they are both quote different from the Kanazawa / Inoue version of Nijuhachiho, but you can see common motions and ideas.

Thanks to you and them!

Great! I have a little more stuff “in the can”, but a busy few weeks coming up. I will edit and post it here as soon as I get the chance. I think it will be interesting to compare and contrast bunkai from the various versions.

With that in mind, I’ll put bunkai for the Kanazawa / Inoue version of Nijuhachiho below too.

All the best,

Iain
