Goju Ryu Bunkai

Hello all,

Can anyone direct me to some bunkai for Goju Ryu kata, Youtube or otherwise? I'm having trouble finding anything remotely like that of Iain's work.

Many thanks!

Stuart

There are a few examples in Kane and Wilders Way of Kata, it's a great book for understanding kata application period, but it doesn't hurt that they are Goju guys! If you ever get a chance to do a seminar or meet with Kris Wilder he has great depth of understanding of Goju kata, and is excellent at teaching it.

Other than that, the stuff seen publically I like the best is Taira sensei's bunkai.

I’d second that. Anything by Wilder and Kane is very good. Gavin Mulholland’s “Four Shades of Black” book is a must read from all karateka; but particularly Goju practitioners.

All the best,

Iain

PS You can see some of Kris’s stuff on his Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/wskadojo

Here is an extract from his Sanchin DVD:

Try Tom Hills dojo on you tube. I bought the four shades of black and its fantastic and well worth the money.
