Kata history resources

Hi there. I am currently working on an article on the "original" Taekwondo forms. Before the Korean schools developed their own forms they used the Kata of Karate and a few of Chinese origin.

I have found a lot of material on most of the forms, but I am struggeling to find good background material on bassai (Bassai Dai in Shotokan) Kata.

Most texts only write about the translation of the name and how the main stream translation is not correct, on history the texts usually say either that it is from China or that Matsumura Sokon made the form and very little more.

Does anyone on the board have any links to great unbiased online resources on Kata and their history? I am mostly interested in Bassai Kata at this time:-)
