Naihanchi Shodan Application and Timing with Richard Poage

Hello, everyone,

For this week's Waza Wednesday, I compiled some footage of my late Sensei, Richard Poage, teaching at an event in 2015, where he went over a basic application for Naihanchi Shodan. I'm sure most people, here, will already be familiar with the technique, itself, but as we recently discussed timing and "taking away the opponent's turn," so to speak, in the "Montie's Law" discussion, it seemed timely to share this particular snippet, because he also goes over timing and the problem of not utilizing kobo ittai (simultaneous attack and defense) to break the opponent's rhythm.

Hi Noah,

Great material as always. Thanks for sharing this with us all. It is greatly appreciated!

Here is the link for those who want to check out the discussion and Wim’s article: https://iainabernethy.co.uk/content/monties-law

All the best,
