Unsu jumping spinning back kick

I think I recall a video in which Iain described the unsu jumping spinning back kick as a desperation move; if I am mistaken, I apologize for the incorrect attribution...

But I am now wondering, if many jumps are interpreted as throws (Heian Godan, Empi, etc), could this one be as well, with the back kick in fact being a leg lift like an uchimata type throw?

Reasonable or not?

100% Reasonable! Someone (Noah?) once posed a good video showing just such a motion in action in a judo comp and it definitely had the look. I’ve just spent 10 mins searching for that thread but can’t find it. It’s not my preferred take on the motion, but I would certainly see it as a totally valid way of looking at it.

All the best,

Iain
