Iain will cover the “forgotten throws of karate” by looking at the throws recorded in the older karate texts and kata. Simple and effective throws and takedowns were once a key part of karate. Knowledge of these methods, and the principles that underly them, will help the karateka practise the art as the holistic system it was intended to be. Furthermore, it is impossible to understand the traditional kata without and understanding of these throwing methods because they are recorded within the kata. The course will assume no prior knowledge and experience of throwing, and will also cover safety in practise and how to integrate these methods with striking.

The course is open to all styles and associations and costs £35 / person.
