On Sunday the 22nd of October 2017 Iain and Andi Kidd will be teaching a joint seminar! They will be covering the "brutality of the basics"! In many dojo, the first kata taught will either be Pinan Shodan (Heian Nidan) or Gekisai Dai Ichi. As a result, these kata are often considered to be "basic" and less effective that their more "advanced" counterparts. Not so! At this event, Andi will show how Pinan Shodan (Heian Nidan) - "Safe from harm fundamentals" - can be applied in a free-flowing way in order to recover initiative and strike the enemy no matter how they try to protect themselves. Iain will cover bunkai and drills for Gekisai Dai Ichi - "Attack and Destroy One" - which is first kata taught in Goju-Ryu, and the second one in Matsubayashi-ryu under the alternate name of Fukyugata Ni ("universal kata two"). No prior knowledge of either kata is needed. This seminar will concentrate on the universal principles that apply to all karateka; irrespective of style. Not one to miss!

The seminar will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic College, Ocotal Way, Swindon, SN3 3LR.
