The karate muses hit me in the head today, and I came up with this solo training drill. We can use impact training to practice kata bunkai applications at full speed and power. In this video I demonstrate how to use your belt tied to a heavy bag to simulate an attacker’s arm that has grabbed your lapel. (Iain Sensei gave me the idea of using your belt this way in training.) I apply the high block sequence in Fukyugata Ichi to a lapel grab defense and counter.
