Looking for a club

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows of a practical karate club in the North or South Lanarkshire region of Scotland? All I can seem to find are "traditional" schools that focus on competition sparring' with bunkai as a dirty word.

Jamie Grey (Shito-ryu base) in in Ayr which would be an hour or so away: http://www.musashikarate.co.uk/index.html

Colin Steel (Shotokan base) is also a similar distance north: https://www.facebook.com/Jissen-Ryu-Shotokan-Karate-359340117540387

I’m not sure if there is anything closer, but both guys would be worth the trip.

All the best,

Iain

Hello Peter,

Also, Craig Penman located in Denny:  http://www.dennykarate.org/index.html

All three (Jamie, Colin & Craig) are good guys and the real deal.

Also, for a one off session, Iain's got seminars in Montrose (26/06) and another in Blairgowrie (with me 25/09). Most of us East coasters are a bit distant though :)

Kindest Regards,

Ally Whytock

Thanks. All too far away to be be practical, unfortunately. I can't believe there seems to be no club within a half hour drive that is switched on. My Google fu has let me down.

Attending a seminar by Iain would be awesome, but to be honest, my karate experience at this point is minimal...lots of experience in other styles.

Back to the drawing board.

Hello Peter, minimal experience in karate isn't a problem Iain is a great instructor and your experience in other styles is interchangeable (bare bones all martial arts same it's the approach that different)

Have fun whatever you do and good luck
