Short clip on one of the possibilities for application of the Saifa kata with use of passing "block", moving on the outside and applying a joint lock/takedown
I don't do Saifa, although I do some Goju-Ryu kata with mawashi-uke in them, but that actually fits the first gedan-shuto-uke in our Passai kata quite well. Thanks for sharing, Les!
That’s an interesting way of applying the movement Les. The arm trapping would not have occurred to me. Thanks for sharing. I tend to see the motion as a parry, redirect, trap enemy’s arm under the lower arm, double hit to base of skull and floating ribs.
I do a similar (not the same) arm trap as part of my Naihanchi drills. At 2:00 in the video below you can see me using the “cup and saucer” position in that way. It would not have occurred to apply the end of Saifa along those lines though. I like it!

Hi Noah
I can see how it works in your version, we have high shuto in this sequence.

Hi Iain
we do this application too, we dont't have Tekki/Naihanchi in our system but it works very well.
