Hi everybody,
this week after training I had a chance to record applications for Heian Shodan / Pinan Nidan.
According to my working theory, Pinan Nidan / Heian Shodan, as the second of the five Pinan/Heian katas, provides solutions for when we have been touched or grabbed by the enemy. It might be a lapel grab, an upper arm grab, a grab on the shoulder from behind or a clash of hands mid-fight. When we feel the touch of the enemy's hand, we know where the enemy is in relation to ourselves. The applications make use of that knowledge, when we first manipulate their elbow and then go for their head/neck.
I've postet applications for Pinan Shodan / Heian Nidan on the forum a while ago, if you are interested:

The video is intended as a memory aid for myself and my students. But it might be useful for others as well. Have a look!
Take care,
Marc
Very nice Marc !
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video Marc. Very well filmed, edited and easy to follow. It must have taken a lot of work to put together. Thank you!
All the best,
Iain
Thank you all for your nice comments. I'm glad you like it.
Of course this is just a quick walk through. The next one will be Heian/Pinan Sandan.
Thanks. Recording took only about 15 minutes. Editing was around 2 hours I guess. Plus the usual Youtube part (description, end screen, preview image). - I'd like to have a better camera though.
Take care,
Marc
Marc,
Great material and thanks for sharing. I particularly like the rear shoulder grab application. I hadn't thought of that one. Thanks!
Best,
David
