Hi All,
I've been a member for a long time, its my first time posting. Thought I'd share this drill we covered in class about a month ago. The application's are heavily influenced by Iain's work and as he recently shared a tekki pad drill on You Tube I thought I share this one here. Hope you enjoy :)
Hi Brain,
Delighted to have you contributing here Brian!
For those who don’t know Brian, please check out the great work he does on Instagram too:

It’s all solid stuff and highly recommended!
You can never have too much Tekki / Naihanchi or pads drills :-)
Very nice stuff. Well explained and well structured. I like!
My only point would be the holding at 3:43. While you clearly say the pad should be against the shoulder, it looks like it’s next to uke’s head and hence there could the risk of injury if the blow is delivered with force. English speakers will get it, but it’s not he native tongue of viewers they could miss the verbal instruction.
The drills themselves are great though! Good bunkai and they look great fun to do too :-)
Thanks once again for posting!
All the best,
Iain
Thanks for taking the time to watch it Iain and yes well spotted. I had noticed the pad feed at 3.43 and should have probably re-filmed that section. Glad you liked the drill and thanks for giving the Instagram page a shout much appreciated. I've always liked the stuff you've shared from the forum so hope to get more involved myself in the future. Cheers Brian
Hi Brain,
There’s no one in our community that has not had to do: 1) on the fly corrections (ourselves or our partners) or 2) watched footage back to realised a minor error. My stuff is full of it … thank heavens for captions :-)
My pleasure! I should have done it long before now, but the video here gave me the reminder. It’s great content.
Your contributions are sure to be of value and be greatly appreciated. That would be awesome!
All the best,
Iain
Hi Iain,
Thanks for the tip re captions, I'm sure that will come in handy in the future ; )
Cheers,
Brian
Hi Brian,
You’re welcome!
If anyone sees text appear mid-video in anything I do … you now know I messed up and needed to clarify after the fact :-)
All the best,
Iain
