Interesting kung fu vs karate comparison

I was watching Monkey Steals Peach, a kung fu historian that was recently acting as guide for Jesse Encamp's Karate Nerd in China series it has been a very interesting little series from both channels.

I went ahead and paid access to the forms videos so that I could see for myself the connection between there forms and ours and also so that I could see some more of that guys footwork (very dynamic and interesting) and I hit on the form San Zhang (three wars) which looks remarkably like some of the older versions of Seisan. I went and found someone else doing the form, I would never post someones protected content out of respect for the guy trying to make a buck generating martial arts content. It is interesting to look at the very simular moves and see if that gives me new and different ideas for applications.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did and I suggest looking at the original video and if you are interested pay the $5 and see the guy from the video doing the form. His footwork is very interesting and his verison of the form is better than the other one I was able to find but this appears to be a fairly obscure kung-fu style so not a lot of choices.

Thanks,

Mike

Apperently San Zhang is one of the older forms in Southern Kung Fu boxing and has about a dozen or more different version. Here is another version being done. This looks a lot like both Seisan and/or Sanchin

Apparently I am not the first person to hit on this, looks like the white crane version of San Zheng is pretty clearly linked with Sanchin.

Thanks,

Mike
