On the 11th of June I will be teaching an open seminar to study the applications and fundamental lessons as taught by the Aragaki version of Seisan kata.
As the Aragaki Seisan is a less commonly practiced version of one of the oldest fundamental forms we will take some time during the session to actually practice the kata itself, so the seminar will also offer the opportunity to learn the form as well as the application practices.
The Kata displays classical Fujian elements of movement and stepping and also has clear links to Southern Mantis and Monk Fist boxing systems, which makes for a very interesting study from an aesthetic angle.
We will practice genuinely applicable responses to the most common acts of physical violence, and during the session will endeavour to understand how to "remove ourselves from the form" to facilitate responses based on feel and energy.
I'm hoping the content will make for a very informative and enjoyable study for all that attend.
The seminar will be at my dojo at : Serbian Orthodox Church, Heap Street, Boothtown,Halifax. HX3 6JE
The session will start at 10am and finish at 2pm and will cost £15pp.
The maximum number for this session is 26 people on a first come basis and places must be secured by payment in advance.
I hope some of the forum members will come along for the session to study a truly wonderful version of this most important kata.
Anyone who is interested can contact me to secure their place either by PM on this forum, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
