I have been working on developing kihon application drills for low block, chest block, high block, and shuto uke. We focus on one kihon technique for the month, training a different drill each week (so, I'm developing about four drills for each kihon technique). Here is the first drill for chest block. We mainly work the kihon combination in traditional kihon practice, and then we work the combination with partners. Where appropriate, I include pad work (but, pad work doesn't always lend itself to certain applications, but we make adjustments where we can). This one is heavily influenced/inspired by Don Came, Chief Instructor, Kissaki-Kai UK. Hopefully, more to come.
