Here is a cool video of Don Came sharing some Pinan Yodan (Heian Yodan) bunkai. Enjoy!
All the best,
Very similar to the technique my Sensei's Sensei shared in our video for the week! It is amazing how sometimes several people can end up covering very similar material around the same time without having seen it. Thanks for sharing!
I really appreciate Don Came's direct, simple, devastating applications. Thanks for posting!

Defiantly! When we have people with similar backgrounds, looking at common kata, with the common objective of civilian self-protection, it is inevitable we end up independently reaching common(ish) conclusions. I love it when that happens too because it shows the robustness of kata in conveying a message and – just as in science – the independent verification of findings strengthens the validity of those findings.
I teach a joint seminar with Don once a year. We agree the themes, but we never go over what each other will be covering in any detail. Nevertheless, it always dovetails perfectly. Things can differ in the nuances, but they never contradict. That convergence of thinking is always enjoyable to see and experience. Those in attendance always like to see it happening first hand, and so do Don and I!
I find the same with lots of the material shared via this forum. And I love seeing that commonality. It makes me feel part of a practical karate “movement” or “tribe”. While we have individual approaches, likes and dislikes … we are all largely of one vision when it comes to big picture. That’s exciting, and good for karate too I think. It shows which way the wind is blowing :-)
I'll be teaching a very similar entry at a seminar this Sunday - the completion of the template will be different again to the recent examples. I'll maybe try and get it recorded and share it as an additional option to the ones we've already viewed on the forum. Regards
