Hey guys, here I share a very passionate topic dear to me, Kata - The underrated Tool Set.
This is a Live Q/A Instagram session with South Africa's Miguel Harker Sensei from Dynamic Karate Incorporated. Here I answer his question: What is the application difference between single techniques in the kata vs. the actual sequence? I basically start off by discussing the underrated nature and underestimated value of kata as seen by those who don't understand it well. Kata is basically a toolbox of tools, it's the antiquated internet/information delivery system used by the masters to give us their version of their Karate. Alone, the techniques mean nothing. You have to test and cross train with others to realize it's use.
