Rhys Abernethy needs you! :-)

Hi All,

I’d really appreciate it if you could have a look at this page and do anything you can to help my 7 year old son reach his goal of raising over £1000 for “Help for Heros”:

If you could spread the word on this it would be hugely appreciated.

All the best,

Iain

Good morning you wonderful people!

Yesterday Rhys was around £450 short of his target. Within 24 hours of me letting you know about his fund-raising activities, he is currently £144.46 over his target! Every single one of the donations came from people who visit this site, are on the newsletter lists, or I know in some other way though karate. For my part, I am genuinely moved by the level of support. Seriously teary-eyed in fact! (Don’t tell anyone though as I have the “tough martial arts type” image to maintain ;-).

What meant the most to Rhys himself were the kind words of encouragement people placed on the donations page! He read them all – getting very excited when he realised some were from people outside the UK – and said that when he has done his walk in February he wants to send everyone a thank you note. He’s going to write it out and I’ll scan and post it for him. I suggested that a video thank you was also a possibility and he really liked that idea! So Rhys himself will be in touch in a few weeks.

I wanted to write a quick thank you from myself at this point because yesterday was a great day! I got that “warm fuzzy feeling” when it became apparent just how great you all are and how all the “virtual time” spent with you all is time spent in fantastic company. It was also amazing to see Rhys smile from ear to ear, put his fists in the air, and jump up and down when we told him he had reached his goal! Thanks so much everyone!

I told Rhys over breakfast that I’d be adding this note today and asked if he had something he wanted to say at this point. The exact words were:

“Thank you to all of Dad’s karate friends who gave me money for Help for Heroes”

Thanks once again and a thank you note and video will be coming after the walk on the 27thof February!

All the best,

Iain
