On Sunday the 16th of February 2020, I will be teaching an open seminar in Bradford! At this event we will be exploring the applications and origins of the “13-hands” family of kata. Most styles have a version of this kata: Seishan (Wado), Seisan (Shito-Ryu & Goju-Ryu), Hangetsu (Shotokan), etc. While these kata are believed to have a common origin, and they have much in common, they nevertheless have some distinct differences. This seminar will compare and contrast these versions in order to give the participant insights into the fighting system that inspired these kata. The seminar is open to all styles and no prior knowledge of the kata is needed. The seminar will run from 10am to 2pm and will be held in Junboku Dojo, Beck Mill, Reva Syke Road, Clayton, Bradford, BD14 6QY. The cost is just £30 per person and to book please contact Andy Jackson via junbokukata@gmail.com or 07761 973553. See you there!
