On the 31st of July 2022, I will be teaching an open seminar in Brighouse, Yorkshire! The seminar will run from 10am to 2pm and take place in Unit 2a, Aone Industrial Park, 370 Bradford Road, Brighouse, HD6 4DJ. The cost is £35 per person, and you can secure your place and get more details via: junbokukata@gmail.com

Mabuni told us, “There are no styles of karate. Just varying interpretations of its principles.” Mabuni (founder of Shito-Ryu) practiced both Naha-te (Goju-Ryu being part of this branch) and “Shuri-te” (Shotokan and Wado-Ryu coming from this branch). At this seminar we will look at the common principles that apply to all of karate and see how the principles of close-range, striking, trapping, throwing, chokes, etc are present in the kata of Goju-Ryu, Shito-Ryu, Shotokan, Wado-Ryu, etc. This seminar will be of great benefit to practitioners of all styles, it will provide insight into all karate kata, and will show that there is much more that unites the various styles of karate than what separates them.
