Saturday the 24th of February 2024 sees me teaching in Bristol! The seminar will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm and will take place at Downend Sports Centre, Garnett Place, Downend, Bristol, BS16 6XA. The cost is £30 per person. To book your place please contact Rob Jones via firstname.lastname@example.org or 0758 3000 220. The theme of this year will be the applications of Naihanchi 1 to 3 / Tekki 1 to 3 and how they integrate together. We will start by looking at core applications of Shodan, and then move on to look at how Nidan and Sandan build on those. The kata that now has the suffix “Shodan” is the original kata, with the Nidan and Sandan versions being created at a later date by Anko Itosu. It is Iain’s view that Itosu made those kata to build upon the lessons of the original kata and to provide alternative options in given situations.
