Peter Consterdine and the Double Hip

Peter Consterdine and Rokas Leonavičius discuss the double hip! I, like countless others, agree that it’s the hardest punch I’ve ever experienced too!

All the best,

Iain

There are lots of videos out there of Peter teaching the double hip, but this is the clearest (and best quality recording) I think I have seen. Definitely worth a watch and, yes, as Iain says, he hits like a sledgehammer. Do not be deceived by his apparently slow and relaxed punching.

MA lot of excellent stuff in this video, I was able to find a few more that elaborated on the double hip but this is the most simple and basic one I have seen. I am interested if any more detailed longer videos are perhaps for sale. This thing is powerful, to the point that if I am not careful I can feel my elbow wanting to hyper extend from the power. It honestly feels like I am throwing a punch with a barbell in my hand when I get the hip positioning correct. I would be interesting in seeing more on the overlapping transitions and the more on the double hip if those video might be for sale. Being in the US I assume that video is the best I can do.

Thanks,

Mike

This is a massive part of Peter’s teaching and it’s had a big influence on me and mine. There was a DVD made a few years ago, as part of a series, by Peter called “Training Day 3”. If you can find that one, it covers those elements in more detail. There’s also plenty of demonstrations of it in action in high speed combinations by Peter’s students and training partners … keep an eye out for the bald chap with the beard; he’s particularly impressive ;-)

All the best,

Iain
