"Finding the void" is good basics for most situations. Just read Rory Miller talking about how human natural reaction is to fight against the force coming at us, preventing us from finding the easy way out through "the void".
Not with multiple people, but yeah..the principle is solid against forward energy...Rory Miller has some simple, but surprisingly enlightening drills for this concept. How you are oriented to their body makes a big difference though, inside or outside a limb etc.
